Is 7 days or 10 days better in Morocco?

I plan a lot of both, and the truth is seven days is plenty for a genuinely satisfying first taste of Morocco — as long as you don't try to see everything. The sweet spot for a week is a single coherent loop: a couple of nights in Marrakech, over the Atlas, a night under the stars in the Sahara, and back via the Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate route. It's a complete, varied arc and you come home feeling you really went somewhere, not that you skimmed it.

Where seven days bites is if you also want Fes and the imperial north. Trying to bolt the desert and Fes onto one week means long driving days and not enough time anywhere — that's when people return saying they spent the trip in a car. So a week works beautifully when it's focused and frustratingly when it's overstuffed.

Ten days changes the maths. The extra three nights let you do the southern desert loop and add Fes and the Middle Atlas at a humane pace, or fold in the coast at Essaouira, or simply slow down and linger — an afternoon by the riad pool, an unhurried souk morning, a longer stop in a Berber village. That breathing room is the difference between ticking sights off and actually absorbing the place.

So be honest with yourself about pace and budget. If a week is what you have, embrace it and keep the route tight — it's a wonderful trip. If you can stretch to ten days, you unlock more of the country and, just as importantly, the calm to enjoy it. More than ten and you're into a different, even richer conversation, but the 7-versus-10 choice really is focus versus depth.
