From Ahmedabad (AMD) there are no direct flights — fly via Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi to Casablanca (about 13–14 hours with the stop), or via Istanbul. Indian passport holders need a Morocco e-visa, so apply early. A 7–10 day route covers Marrakech, the Sahara and Fes well.

Ahmedabad has strong Gulf links, which makes Morocco surprisingly reachable, though I always clarify there is no nonstop. From AMD you connect through Dubai with Emirates, Doha with Qatar Airways or Abu Dhabi with Etihad, then continue to Casablanca; Turkish Airlines via Istanbul is the other reliable choice. Total air time is around 13 to 14 hours including the connection. Gulf-hub schedules shift seasonally, so I always have my Ahmedabad clients verify the exact times with the airline at booking.

The visa is the step I never let people skip. Indian passport holders need a visa for Morocco, and the e-visa is generally the simplest path — but it must be applied for before departure and the requirements are periodically revised. Apply early and verify your eligibility and document checklist on the official Moroccan e-visa portal. Gujarati families travelling in a group especially benefit from starting early, because everyone’s documents need to line up.

For the itinerary, I often design vegetarian-friendly journeys for my Ahmedabad guests — Morocco does this better than people expect. A 7-day loop takes in Marrakech, an Atlas night, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes. With 10 days I add Chefchaouen and the laid-back coast at Essaouira. Because Gujarati travellers often move as extended families, a private driver and a roomy vehicle make the long desert legs comfortable for everyone.

My Ahmedabad-specific tip: plan the food in advance. Let your riads and our team know about vegetarian or Jain requirements before arrival and Morocco delivers beautifully — tagines, breads, salads, mint tea. Pacing-wise, remember Morocco is roughly four and a half hours behind India, so keep day one gentle after the overnight flight. Anchor the trip on our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below and you will travel relaxed, not rushed.
