From Chandigarh (IXC) there are no direct flights — connect via Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi to Casablanca (around 14–15 hours including the stop), or via Istanbul. Many travellers route through Delhi for more options. Indian passport holders need a Morocco e-visa, so apply early; then plan a 7–10 day trip.

Chandigarh travellers are often surprised how doable Morocco is, even though there is no direct flight. From IXC you connect through a Gulf hub — Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways) or Abu Dhabi (Etihad) — to Casablanca, or via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. Because Delhi is close and far better connected, many of my Chandigarh clients position there first for wider long-haul choice. Total air time is roughly 14 to 15 hours including the stop. As always, verify the live schedule with the airline before booking.

The visa is where I am most insistent. Indian passport holders require a visa for Morocco; the Moroccan e-visa is the simplest route, but it must be applied for before you travel and the eligibility rules change periodically. Apply early and verify the current requirements on the official Moroccan e-visa portal. I encourage Punjab travellers, who often plan big group trips, to start the applications together so everyone’s documents are ready in time.

For the journey, Chandigarh guests frequently travel as large families or friend groups, so I design comfortable, sociable loops. A 7-day plan covers Marrakech, an Atlas overnight, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes; ten days adds Chefchaouen and a coastal day in Essaouira. With bigger groups I always arrange a private vehicle and driver — the long desert legs are far more fun when everyone travels together.

My Chandigarh-specific tip: settle your departure airport early, since flying via Delhi usually beats Chandigarh on price and frequency but adds a positioning leg. Whichever you pick, remember Morocco is about four and a half hours behind India — keep day one relaxed after the overnight flight. Use our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below as your frame and you will land into a smooth, well-paced trip.
