From Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) there are no direct flights — connect via a Gulf hub like Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or via Istanbul, to Casablanca (CMN), roughly 16–19 hours including the stop. Most travellers need a Morocco visa, so apply early. Then plan a 7–10 day loop.

Ho Chi Minh City travellers are some of the most enthusiastic long-haul explorers I plan for, and I am upfront that Morocco is a real journey with no direct flight. From SGN the smoothest routings are a Gulf carrier via Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, onward to Casablanca, with total air time around sixteen to nineteen hours including the connection. Qatar Airways and Emirates serve Saigon well; always verify the live schedule with the airline, as these timings move with the season.

The visa is the part I will not let Vietnamese travellers leave late. Most passports from the region require a visa for Morocco, and the application must be in hand before you fly. Apply early and verify your eligibility and the exact document list on the official Moroccan portal. My HCMC guests who sort the visa first, before booking the long flights, never put the trip at risk.

For the journey, Saigon travellers thrive on energy, colour and food — which is exactly what Morocco serves. A 7-day loop covers Marrakech and its souks, a night in the High Atlas, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes. Ten days adds blue Chefchaouen and breezy Essaouira on the Atlantic, a lovely decompression after the inland heat. A private car and driver keeps the long inter-city drives comfortable and scenic.

My Ho Chi Minh City–specific tip: treat the first morning as recovery, not sightseeing. Morocco runs many hours behind Vietnam, so an overnight Gulf-hub connection lands you mid-afternoon and you will sleep well that night. Keep day one light with a courtyard breakfast and a hammam, then hit the medinas refreshed. Use our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below as your frame.
