From Kumasi (KMS) you hop to Accra (ACC), then fly Royal Air Maroc direct to Casablanca, or connect via Lagos. Budget 8–14 hours with one or two stops. Most Ghanaian passport holders need a visa or e-visa for Morocco — confirm and apply early. A 7–10 day first trip suits the shorter haul well.
Kumasi travellers are closer to Morocco than almost anyone I plan for outside Europe, and the route is genuinely tidy. From KMS the move is a short domestic hop to Accra (ACC), Ghana's international gateway, and from there Royal Air Maroc flies direct to Casablanca (CMN) — that's the spine of the whole trip. If the Accra timings don't suit your dates, the workable alternative is to connect via Lagos (LOS) in neighbouring Nigeria, which also has Royal Air Maroc service onward to Casablanca. Either way you're on a single short crossing, not a transatlantic marathon.
Because West Africa and Morocco are on the same continent, total travel time from Kumasi is often just 8 to 14 hours including the Accra feeder and any connection — a world away from what your Latin American counterparts face. I still build a 2.5–3 hour layover at Accra (or Lagos) so the domestic leg has breathing room before the Casablanca flight. The Royal Air Maroc Accra–Casablanca service is the reliable backbone here, and Casablanca then connects you onward across Morocco by train or a short flight to Marrakech (RAK).
The visa is the part I make Ghanaian clients handle first. Most ordinary Ghanaian passport holders need a visa to enter Morocco, and Morocco has been expanding an electronic visa (e-visa) system for several African nationalities — which is good news, but the eligibility and process genuinely change. So the essential step is to confirm the current requirement for a Ghanaian passport, and whether the e-visa applies to you, on official Moroccan consular channels, and apply with comfortable lead time. Verify the live flight schedules in the same sitting, since the Accra–Casablanca and Lagos–Casablanca frequencies vary by season.
With the shorter haul, a 7 to 10 day trip works well from Kumasi — you can do a focused week without feeling cheated, or stretch to ten for the full sweep. A route I'd design: into Casablanca, train to Fes for two nights in the medieval medina, cross to the Sahara for an overnight at Merzouga, then over the High Atlas to Marrakech for souks and gardens. On a tight week, anchor on Marrakech and Fes with one desert excursion. And if you're a football fan, keep an eye on the 2030 World Cup — Morocco co-hosts, so an Accra–Casablanca hop puts you within easy reach of the matches. Use our 7-day or 10-day itinerary as your frame and we'll tailor it to your Kumasi start.
