February stays cool and changeable: highs near 17–18°C (63–64°F), cold nights around 5–7°C (41–45°F), and some of the year’s wettest spells. Almond blossom starts and the medina is still calm — a peaceful, low-cost time to visit if you dress for rain.

February in Fes feels like late winter edging toward spring. Daytime highs creep up to around 17 or 18°C, and on a clear afternoon the medina is glorious — the light is sharp, the air clean after rain, and the tilework on the madrasas glows. But it is also one of the damper months, so you should plan around weather rather than expect wall-to-wall sun. I always build flexible days in February, with indoor anchors like the Nejjarine Museum, a hammam, or a long lunch when the clouds roll in.

The countryside around Fes begins to wake up. Almond and early fruit blossom appears on the Saiss plain and in the foothills, and the olive groves are vivid green from the winter rain. It is a quietly beautiful time for a day trip to Sefrou, a small town south of Fes famous for its cherries and its old mellah, or up into the Middle Atlas where the cedar forests around Azrou can still hold snow. The contrast between a cool, blossoming countryside and the warm-toned medina is one of February’s real pleasures.

Crowds are still thin and prices low, which means you experience the working medina rather than a tourist set-piece. Tanners at the Chouara tannery, coppersmiths in Seffarine, the bakers and the spice merchants are all going about ordinary February business. Guides and riad owners have time for you. If you care about photography, the soft, often dramatic skies this month give far more interesting images than the flat blue glare of high summer.

Pack for cold mornings and wet afternoons: waterproof shoes with grip for slippery cobbles, a warm layer, an umbrella. Heating in riads matters — choose one that has it. Treat February as a cultural and culinary trip: cooking classes, museums, slow exploration. If you want reliable sunshine you may be slightly early, but if you want Fes calm, affordable and authentic, it is an excellent month.
