About This Experience

Chefchaouen is arguably the most photographed city in Morocco, and for good reason -- every narrow alleyway, cascading staircase, and arched doorway is painted in a mesmerising spectrum of blues, from pale powder to deep cobalt, creating a visual wonderland that has captivated artists, photographers, and travellers since the city was opened to outsiders in the 1920s. But the most extraordinary compositions in Chefchaouen are not found along the main tourist routes -- they lie in the hidden corners, elevated viewpoints, and early-morning light that only a resident photographer can reveal. This three-hour photography walk is led by a professional photographer who has lived in Chefchaouen for over a decade and whose images of the Blue City have been published internationally. Whether you shoot with a professional DSLR or a smartphone, your guide tailors the experience to your skill level, offering real-time composition advice, exposure tips, and creative suggestions at each location. The route begins in the main plaza -- Place Outa el-Hammam -- during the golden hour when the first light of day paints the surrounding blue walls in warm tones. You then navigate through a sequence of carefully chosen locations: a hidden alleyway where a cascade of blue steps is framed by hanging geraniums and a sleeping cat; a rooftop viewpoint where the entire medina spreads below in a patchwork of blue; a quiet residential quarter where elderly women in traditional white haik wraps go about their morning routine; the Ras el-Maa waterfall where local women wash laundry in crystal-clear mountain water. Your guide also introduces you to the colourful characters of the medina -- weavers, bakers, and craftspeople -- and helps you capture authentic portraits with respect and consent. The walk concludes with a review session over coffee, where your guide helps you select and refine your best images.
