Travel Logistics for French Visitors
Visa Requirements
French citizens do not need a visa for Morocco for stays up to 90 days. Only a valid passport with 6 months remaining validity is needed.
Best Time to Visit
October through April offers warmth when France is cold and grey. Spring (March-May) is magnificent with pleasant temperatures and blooming landscapes. Autumn (September-November) provides warm days and cultural festivals. Les vacances scolaires francaises (Toussaint, Noel, Paques) all coincide with excellent Moroccan weather.
Time Zone
- Aucun decalage horaire. Morocco shares the same time zone (GMT+1) as France, making it as easy as a domestic trip.
- You can leave Paris in the morning and be having lunch at a Marrakech riad.
- The short flight and no time difference make Morocco ideal for long weekend escapes from France.
- No adjustment period needed - you are productive and energetic from the moment you arrive.
Travel Insurance
European health insurance (CEAM) is NOT valid in Morocco. Travel insurance (assurance voyage) is recommended. Policies from MAIF, AXA, Allianz France, or Chapka start from approximately 25-40 euros for a 10-day trip. Your Carte Bancaire (Visa Premier or Mastercard Gold) may include travel insurance - check your bank's terms before purchasing additional coverage.
What to Pack
- Bonne nouvelle: the same European plug works in Morocco. No adapter needed.
- Light, elegant clothing - French travelers appreciate style, and Morocco's riads and restaurants welcome well-dressed guests.
- Sun protection is stronger than in mainland France, especially south of the Atlas Mountains.
- Comfortable shoes for medina exploration - the cobbled streets demand practical footwear.
- A light scarf for cultural site visits and desert breezes.
- Your French phrasebook is unnecessary - French is widely spoken throughout Morocco as a second language.
Phone & Connectivity
