The best months to visit Marrakech are April and October — warm sunny days of 24–28°C, comfortable evenings and ideal conditions for sightseeing and the desert. March, May and late September are nearly as good with fewer crowds. Avoid July–August heat and the cold January–December nights if you want the easiest weather.
If you want one clear answer, the best months to visit Marrakech are April and October. They sit on either side of the year's extremes — after the cold of winter and before the heat of summer in spring, and after the summer furnace but before winter's chill in autumn — and they deliver warm, reliably sunny days of 24 to 28°C with comfortable evenings. Everything Marrakech does well peaks in these two months: the gardens, the rooftops, the medina wandering, the day trips, and crucially the desert, which is at its very best in both April and October.
The trade-off for that perfection is crowds and cost. April and October are full high season, so the best riads and guides book up months ahead and rates are at their annual peak, with Easter (often April) and the autumn travel rush adding extra pressure. If ideal weather is your priority and you can plan ahead, they are unbeatable. But if you want most of the magic with fewer people and friendlier prices, the shoulders of those peaks — March, May and the second half of September — are very nearly as good, with slightly warmer or cooler edges and noticeably more breathing room.
Your choice should really follow what you want from the trip. For the easiest all-round weather and a desert extension, choose April or October. For spring colour, almond blossom and value, look at March or even February. For warmth, quiet and low prices — and a willingness to live by the pool and the early morning — the summer months of June to August work for the heat-tolerant, though the Sahara is off-limits then. And for atmospheric, bargain, festive winter Marrakech with crisp days and cold nights, December and January are quietly wonderful if you pack for the chill.
My honest guidance after years of planning these trips: aim for April or October if the dates and budget allow, hedge to March, May or late September if you want the same lovely weather with thinner crowds, and only choose high summer or deep winter if their specific appeal — cheap and quiet heat, or festive low-season calm — outweighs the weather compromise. There is genuinely no bad month to see Marrakech; there is only the month that best matches your priorities, your tolerance for heat or cold, and whether the desert is on your list.
