No — Chinese passport holders enjoy visa-free entry to Morocco for short tourist stays of up to 90 days under a long-standing mutual exemption. You just need a passport valid at least six months. Entry policies can change, so always verify the current rule with a Moroccan consulate before booking.
This is one of the happiest answers I give, because the visa side is genuinely easy for Chinese travellers. Under a mutual visa-exemption arrangement between Morocco and China, holders of an ordinary Chinese passport can enter Morocco for tourism without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days. There's no e-visa to apply for, no embassy appointment, no fee — you book your flights and go. For a destination this far away and this exotic, that simplicity is a real gift.
What you do still need is the basics done properly: a passport with at least six months' validity beyond your travel dates and, ideally, a couple of blank pages. I tell guests to carry proof of onward or return travel and a confirmed accommodation booking for the first night. Immigration officers in Casablanca and Marrakech rarely ask for these from visa-exempt travellers, but having them printed removes any friction at the desk, especially late at night after a long-haul flight.
My one firm caveat — and I repeat it to every guest — is that visa and entry policies are decided by governments and can be amended with little notice. Visa-free status today doesn't guarantee it forever, and rules can differ for official or diplomatic passports versus ordinary ones. So before you book anything, please verify the current requirement directly with the Moroccan embassy or consulate in China, or an official government source. I'd rather you spend five minutes confirming than discover a change at check-in.
