Do I need a visa for Morocco?

For the vast majority of our travellers, the answer is no — no visa is needed for a tourist visit. Citizens of the United States, United Kingdom, all EU member states, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and many other countries can enter Morocco visa-free and stay for up to 90 days. You simply arrive, get a stamp at immigration and you are in.

The main requirement is a valid passport. Officially it needs to be valid for the duration of your stay, but the widely recommended safe standard — and what many airlines check — is at least six months of validity beyond your arrival date. Make sure you also have a blank page for the entry stamp, and be ready to state where you are staying.

A few practical notes. The 90-day allowance is per entry for most nationalities; if you want to stay longer you would need to apply for an extension at a local police station before your time runs out, which can be bureaucratic. Some nationalities not on the visa-free list do require a visa in advance or an e-visa, so this is genuinely worth checking against your own passport.

Visa rules can and do change, so we always tell travellers to confirm directly with the nearest Moroccan embassy or consulate, or an official government source, close to their travel date rather than relying on any third party. It takes five minutes and removes all doubt before you book flights.
