A vow renewal in Morocco is purely symbolic — no legal process — so it is wonderfully flexible. Choose a setting (riad, desert, garden, coast), a celebrant or officiant, a photographer, and an intimate dinner or small guest gathering. It can be arranged in 1–3 months and woven into a wider anniversary trip.

A vow renewal is, to me, the easiest and most joyful of these ceremonies to arrange, precisely because there's no legal layer at all — you're already married, so this is entirely yours to shape. That freedom is the whole point. I've designed renewals for fifth, tenth, twenty-fifth and even fiftieth anniversaries, and the brief is always the same: recreate the feeling of the first time, or finally have the celebration you never got around to.

The building blocks are simple. A meaningful setting — many couples choose somewhere that echoes their original wedding or their honeymoon, others pick the polar opposite for contrast. A celebrant or officiant to lead the renewal, which can be as scripted or as personal as you like; I've had couples reread their original vows, write entirely new ones, or fold in their children and grandchildren. A photographer to mark the milestone, and an intimate dinner or a small gathering of the people who've shared the journey.

Settings I love for renewals: a candlelit riad courtyard for warmth and history; the Agafay desert for drama without distance; a coastal terrace in Essaouira for sea air and softness; or an Atlas valley if you want green and quiet. Because there are no guest-catering or permit complexities of a full wedding, even a beautifully styled renewal comes together quickly — typically one to three months — and slots naturally into a wider anniversary journey through the country.

My honest steer is to lean into the meaning rather than the production. A renewal doesn't need a marquee for two hundred; some of the most affecting ones I've arranged were just the couple, a celebrant, a photographer, and a single perfect table under the stars. Tell me your anniversary number and what your original day was like, and I'll design something that nods to where you started while celebrating how far you've come.
