From Alicante (ALC) you sometimes get a seasonal direct to Marrakech (Ryanair); otherwise connect via Madrid or Barcelona to Marrakech or Casablanca (~3–6h total). Land in Marrakech, run a 7–10 day loop, then fly home from Marrakech or Fes. Verify schedules.
Alicante travellers are luckier than they realise. When the seasonal Ryanair non-stop to Marrakech is running, it is roughly three hours wing-to-wing, so you can leave the Costa Blanca in the morning and be on a medina rooftop by mid-afternoon. Outside those windows I simply route you through Madrid or Barcelona onto Royal Air Maroc, Iberia or a low-cost carrier into Marrakech or Casablanca — four to six hours door to riad including the connection. The Alicante–Madrid AVE also gives you a fast, comfortable rail leg to the bigger hub if the fares favour it.
I land most Alicante clients in Marrakech and build a loop. Seven days handles the essentials — souks and gardens, the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka pass, a desert night, the long road back — and ten lets me thread in Fes and Chefchaouen at a gentler pace. People used to the easy beach rhythm of the Costa Blanca respond well when I keep the days unhurried: slow mornings, a hammam afternoon, a sunset somewhere quiet, with the Sahara bivouac saved as the centrepiece roughly midway.
What surprises sun-and-sea travellers from Alicante most is how fast the landscape changes once you leave the coast behind. A family told me they came for warmth and souvenirs and left talking about the silence of the dunes at golden hour — the camel walk into Erg Chebbi was the thing the children never stopped describing. So I now plan the route so that desert night lands as the emotional high point, with the busier city days bracketing it on either side.
For the way home I keep both exits flexible — out of Marrakech, or out of Fes (via Casablanca, Madrid or Barcelona) if your loop finishes in the north. Because the hop can be so short when the direct runs, even a five-night escape works, though I always nudge Alicante travellers toward at least that so the desert is not rushed. Send me your dates and group size and I will pick between the seasonal direct and the connection — and please confirm the live timetable, as both shift by season.
