From Cali (CLO) you feed through Bogotá or a US hub, fly the Atlantic to Madrid or Lisbon, then connect 1.5–2 hours to Casablanca or Marrakech. Expect 20–26 hours and two or three stops. Colombian passports require a Morocco visa — arrange it early. Give yourself 10 days on the ground.

Cali sits a step further from the long-haul network than Bogotá, so when a caleño asks me about Morocco the honest first move is always the same: get to a gateway. From CLO that usually means a short domestic hop to Bogotá (BOG), occasionally via Panama City with Copa, and then the transatlantic crossing into Madrid or Lisbon. Once you're on the Iberian peninsula, Morocco is a breath away — Casablanca (CMN) and Marrakech (RAK) are both well under two hours by air, served many times a day by Royal Air Maroc, Iberia, TAP's partners and the low-cost lines.

I'm upfront with Cali clients that this can become a three-leg journey — CLO to Bogotá, Bogotá to Madrid, Madrid to Marrakech — so total travel time of 20 to 26 hours is normal. The way I tame it is generous layovers (a solid 3 hours at the European hub) and, more often than not, a deliberate overnight in Madrid or Lisbon on the way out. That stopover isn't wasted time; it's the difference between arriving in Marrakech wrecked or arriving curious and rested. The Spain–Morocco and Portugal–Morocco shuttles are so frequent that rebooking is easy if a leg slips.

Visa first, always. Colombian passport holders must obtain a visa to visit Morocco, and because the application takes time I make this the opening task of the whole plan, ahead of buying tickets. Morocco's rules and any e-authorisation pathways evolve, so verify the current requirement for a Colombian passport on official Moroccan consular channels and apply with several weeks in hand. Check the live flight schedules in the same sitting — Latin America to Europe routes shift seasonally, and the right combination this winter may not be the right one next summer.

With a journey this big, I design Cali itineraries at 10 days so the payoff matches the effort. A route that flows beautifully: into Casablanca, train to Fes for two nights in the labyrinth, across the Middle Atlas to a candlelit camp at Merzouga in the Sahara, then over the High Atlas passes into Marrakech for the finale, flying out from there. Short on time at a week, I'd anchor on Marrakech and Fes plus one desert taste and leave the south for a return trip. Build from our 10-day itinerary and we'll tailor the connecting flights to your CLO start point.
