From Hanoi (HAN) there are no direct flights — connect via a Gulf hub like Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or via Istanbul, to Casablanca (CMN), roughly 16–19 hours including the stop. Most travellers need a Morocco visa, so apply early. Then plan a 7–10 day loop.
Hanoi travellers are flying a long way to Morocco, and I am always honest that it is a real journey — there is no direct flight. From HAN the best routings are a Gulf carrier via Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, or Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, onward to Casablanca, with total air time around sixteen to nineteen hours including the connection. Qatar Airways and Emirates serve Hanoi well; verify the live schedule with the airline, as Southeast Asia–North Africa timings shift seasonally.
The visa is the step I never let Vietnamese travellers skip. Most passports from the region require a visa for Morocco, and given the long routing you want it secured early. Apply ahead of travel and verify your eligibility and document list on the official Moroccan portal. My Hanoi guests who treat the visa as the very first task — before booking the multi-hour flights — always travel with peace of mind.
For the itinerary, I find Hanoi travellers, who know vibrant street food and atmospheric old quarters intimately, fall hard for Marrakech and Fes. A 7-day loop covers Marrakech and its souks, a night in the High Atlas, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes, whose labyrinthine medina rivals Hanoi’s Old Quarter for sensory richness. Ten days adds Chefchaouen and the coast at Essaouira. A private driver keeps the long desert legs restful.
My Hanoi-specific tip: because you are burning the better part of two days in transit, give yourself at least a week on the ground and do not over-schedule. Morocco runs many hours behind Vietnam, so an overnight Gulf-hub connection lands you in the afternoon — keep day one gentle to beat the jet lag. Build the trip on our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below and let it breathe.
