From Palma de Mallorca (PMI), expect a connection via Barcelona, Madrid or Lisbon to Marrakech or Casablanca (~4–6h total); occasional seasonal directs to Marrakech appear in summer. Land in Marrakech, run a 7–10 day loop, then fly home from Marrakech or Fes. Verify schedules.
Mallorca travellers ask me whether they can fly straight to Morocco, and the honest answer is mostly no — the odd seasonal summer direct to Marrakech surfaces, but you should not count on it. From Palma I route people through Barcelona or Madrid (and sometimes Lisbon on TAP) onto Royal Air Maroc, Vueling or a low-cost carrier into Marrakech or Casablanca. Door to riad runs roughly four to six hours including the connection, so you can leave the island in the morning and be on a medina rooftop by evening.
I land most Palma clients in Marrakech and build a loop from there. Seven days covers the Red City, the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka pass, a night in the dunes and the long road back; ten days lets me thread in Fes and Chefchaouen at a gentler pace. Islanders are used to a slow, sun-and-sea rhythm, so I deliberately do not overstuff the days — slow mornings, a hammam, a sunset somewhere quiet — and I save the desert bivouac as the centrepiece roughly midway through.
What surprises Balearic travellers most is the sheer scale of the interior. You go from an island you can drive across in a couple of hours to a country where a single mountain crossing is half a day. A couple from Palma told me the High Atlas — Berber villages clinging to terraced slopes, mint tea pressed on them by a roadside family — moved them more than the dunes did. So I now make sure the mountain leg gets genuine time and is not just a transfer between headline stops.
For the return, if your itinerary ends in the north I fly you home out of Fes (via Casablanca, Barcelona or Madrid) rather than backtracking to Marrakech. I keep both exits open until we lock the plan. Tell me your dates and how many nights you have and I will build the cleanest routing — and a reminder to confirm the live timetable, because the Palma connections and any seasonal direct change with the calendar.
