From Panama City, fly to Madrid or Lisbon (Copa or partners), then connect 1.5–2h to Casablanca or Marrakech — total 16–22 hours. Plan 8–12 days across Marrakech, the desert and Fes. Most Panamanian travellers need a Morocco visa; confirm and apply ahead.
Panama is genuinely well placed for Europe-then-Morocco routing thanks to its strong hub connections. The path I build most often is Panama City to Madrid (a direct transatlantic flight of around nine to ten hours), then a short 90-minute to two-hour hop down to Casablanca or Marrakech. Lisbon works equally well as an entry point into Morocco. Because Panama City is a major connecting hub itself, you have flexibility to assemble the legs that suit your dates — just reconfirm the Madrid–Morocco connection times, which vary by day.
Once you've made the effort to cross the Atlantic, give Morocco room to breathe — I recommend nine to twelve days. A reliable loop: arrive into Marrakech or Casablanca, work up to Fes for the medieval medina, drop down to the Sahara for a night under the stars at Merzouga or Erg Chigaga, then return through the High Atlas and Ait Ben Haddou. With more time, the blue town of Chefchaouen or the coast at Essaouira round things out beautifully.
On entry rules, most Panamanian passport holders need a visa for Morocco, so treat this as a planning priority rather than an afterthought. You'll generally need six-plus months of passport validity, confirmed accommodation, a return ticket, and proof of funds. Apply through the appropriate Moroccan consular channel and keep both digital and printed copies of all documents. Don't lock in non-refundable flights until your visa is secured.
Practical notes: Morocco sits five to six hours ahead of Panama, so the jet lag leans eastward and a soft first day pays off. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times to travel the full loop. Bring a fee-free card and withdraw dirhams on arrival rather than exchanging cash beforehand. Pre-book your first two nights and the desert experience; leave the city days flexible to follow your curiosity.
