From Phnom Penh (PNH) there are no direct flights — connect via a Gulf hub like Doha or Dubai, or via Istanbul, to Casablanca (CMN), roughly 18–21 hours including the stop and sometimes two connections. Most travellers need a Morocco visa, so apply early. Then plan a 7–10 day loop.
Phnom Penh travellers are flying a serious distance to Morocco, and I plan these journeys carefully because there is no direct flight and sometimes two connections. From PNH the cleanest routings are a Gulf carrier via Doha or Dubai, or Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, onward to Casablanca, with total air time around eighteen to twenty-one hours including layovers. Cambodian long-haul options are limited, so I often position clients through Bangkok or Singapore first — always verify every leg with the airline.
The visa is the step I press hardest for Cambodian travellers. Most passports from the region require a visa for Morocco, and with a routing this long you want it confirmed well in advance. Apply early and verify your eligibility and the document checklist on the official Moroccan portal. My Phnom Penh guests who handle the visa before booking the multi-leg flights always avoid the last-minute panic.
For the itinerary, Phnom Penh travellers who love temple cities, markets and warm hospitality connect easily with Morocco’s medinas. A 7-day loop covers Marrakech and its souks, a night in the High Atlas, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes. Ten days adds Chefchaouen and the coast at Essaouira. Given how far you have flown, a private driver turns the long desert legs into restful, scenic stretches rather than a chore.
My Phnom Penh–specific tip: nail your positioning leg first — flying via Bangkok or Singapore usually opens far better long-haul connections than Phnom Penh alone. Build a buffer at both ends so tight connections do not stress you. Morocco is many hours behind Cambodia, so keep day one very gentle. Anchor the trip on our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below and savour it slowly.
