From Riga, connect via Frankfurt, Istanbul or Paris to Casablanca — roughly 10–12 hours door-to-door with one stop. airBaltic feeds these hubs well. Allow 8–10 days, land in Casablanca and build your loop from Marrakech. Verify current schedules and check visa rules before booking.

Riga has a quietly useful advantage that I always flag to Latvian travellers: airBaltic runs a tidy network into exactly the hubs you need — Frankfurt, Paris, Istanbul — so connecting onward to Casablanca is far less painful than the map suggests. My usual recommendation is Frankfurt or Istanbul, with the Istanbul option winning whenever I want the whole journey protected under one airline rather than stitched together.

I treat the connection city as a small bonus rather than a chore. A few of my Riga couples have deliberately taken a longer Paris layover and ducked into the city for an afternoon on the way out — it is not for everyone, but if you are spending the hours anyway, I am happy to build a routing that lets you breathe somewhere interesting. For most people, though, a clean two-to-three-hour change is exactly what I aim for.

On arrival I always start Latvian guests softly in Marrakech, a short hop south of Casablanca, because it is the gentlest possible introduction to Morocco's rhythm. From there the week writes itself: the medina and its rooftops, a desert night or two, the drive over the Atlas with its switchbacks and viewpoints. Ten days lets me add Fes and the blue streets of Chefchaouen; a week I keep focused on Marrakech and the south so the trip feels deep rather than scattered.

The two non-negotiables I leave with every Riga traveller: verify your hub timings directly before booking, because the airBaltic feeder and the onward Casablanca flight need to line up and seasonal reshuffles can break that, and confirm your entry requirements yourself rather than trusting an old summary. Once those are certain, send me your dates and I will shape the on-the-ground week around the pace you actually want.
