From Sarajevo, the cleanest route is via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines to Casablanca — about 9–12 hours door-to-door with one stop; Vienna and Frankfurt are alternatives. Plan 7–10 days, arrive Casablanca, base on Marrakech. Verify current schedules and check visa rules before booking.

Sarajevo travellers almost always end up on the Istanbul routing, and for good reason: Turkish flies the Sarajevo–Istanbul leg reliably and connects onward to Casablanca, so I can keep your entire journey on one protected ticket. Vienna and Frankfurt are solid backups, but from Sarajevo specifically the Istanbul change tends to be the shortest and least fussy, which is why it is my default recommendation for Bosnian guests.

There is a cultural thread I love pointing out to travellers from Sarajevo: you are coming from a city with its own Ottoman quarter, its own old bazaar and call to prayer, and Morocco will feel both familiar and entirely fresh. I lean into that when I plan — Fes in particular tends to resonate, because its tanneries, mosques and labyrinthine medina rhyme with what you know while being on a completely different scale. It makes for a richer trip than a blank-slate first-timer gets.

Practically, I land Sarajevo guests in Casablanca and move them to Marrakech for a gentle start, then run the classic southern loop — souks, a Sahara night under the stars, the Atlas passes and the kasbahs of the Ounila and Dadès. With ten days I weave Fes in properly so you can feel that Ottoman-to-Maghreb echo for yourself; with a week I keep things focused around Marrakech and the desert so the driving stays manageable.

Two items I hand back to every Sarajevo traveller as homework: verify the Istanbul–Casablanca flight times yourself close to booking, because Turkish adjusts those slots by season and I have watched good connections shift, and confirm your entry requirements directly rather than relying on anything I said months earlier. Get those certain, tell me your dates, and I will design the week around exactly how you like to travel.
