From Surat (STV) there are no direct flights — connect via Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi to Casablanca, or via Istanbul, often positioning through Mumbai or Ahmedabad (around 14 hours of air time). Indian passport holders need a Morocco e-visa, so apply early; then plan a 7–10 day trip.
Surat has limited long-haul service, so logistics matter most here — and there is no direct India–Morocco flight regardless. From STV most of my clients position through Mumbai or Ahmedabad, then connect via a Gulf hub — Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways) or Abu Dhabi (Etihad) — to Casablanca, or via Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. Counting the road or short hop to your departure city plus the connection, plan on roughly 14 hours of air time. Verify every leg’s schedule with the airline before booking.
The visa is the non-negotiable. Indian passport holders require a visa for Morocco; the Moroccan e-visa is the easiest path, but it must be applied for before travel and the rules change periodically. Apply early and verify the current eligibility and documents on the official Moroccan e-visa portal. For Surat’s many group and family travellers, I always advise starting the applications together so nobody’s paperwork holds up the trip.
For the itinerary, Surat travellers — often diamond-trade families who appreciate quality and value — respond well to a well-organised, comfortable loop. A 7-day plan covers Marrakech, an Atlas overnight, two nights in the Sahara near Merzouga, and Fes; ten days adds Chefchaouen and a coastal day in Essaouira. Because groups from Surat tend to be larger, I arrange a private vehicle and driver so the long desert legs stay comfortable and sociable.
My Surat-specific tip: nail the positioning leg first. Decide early whether you fly from Mumbai or Ahmedabad, because it shapes your fares, frequencies and connection times. Then keep day one in Morocco light — the country runs about four and a half hours behind India and you will wake early naturally. Use our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below as the backbone of a smooth, well-sequenced journey.
