May in Rabat is warm, dry and lovely — highs around 23°C (73°F), comfortable 14°C (57°F) nights, abundant sunshine and a fresh Atlantic breeze. Gardens stay green, the sea is warming and it is one of the most reliable, pleasant months to visit before summer heat.

May might be the most effortless month to enjoy Rabat. The weather is warm and consistent — highs around 23°C — but the ocean breeze keeps it from ever feeling hot, so you get long, sunny, dry days without the energy-sapping heat that hits the inland cities by now. I find this is the month where clients stop checking the forecast altogether, because it is just reliably good.

The city is still green from the spring rains, so the gardens look fantastic and the Chellah remains lush, even as the wildflowers start to fade to gold. The riverfront comes alive in the longer evenings — locals out promenading along the Bou Regreg, cafés full, the marina busy. I love an early-evening walk from the Kasbah des Oudayas down to the river as the light softens; it is one of those simple Rabat pleasures that stays with people.

May sits in the shoulder of high season. It is busier than winter, but to me it feels calmer than April — the Easter surge has passed and the summer holiday crowds have not yet arrived. Prices ease back a touch from their April peak too, which makes it a smart-value choice for travellers who want excellent weather without paying the absolute top rate. The beaches just outside the city start to be genuinely usable as the Atlantic warms.

Pack light and breezy — daytime is t-shirt weather — but keep one layer for the cooler evenings, which still drop pleasantly once the sun is gone. Sun protection matters now as the UV climbs. May is an ideal anchor for a broader trip: I often combine it with Fes and the coast, or use it as a gentle, temperate start before heading inland early in the day to dodge the building heat elsewhere.
