Yes — Morocco has a flourishing wellness scene. Yoga and detox retreats cluster around the Marrakech Palmeraie, the Atlas foothills, Essaouira and the Agadir coast, blending yoga, meditation, hammam, argan-oil treatments and Moroccan cuisine. Options range from rustic eco-retreats to full luxury spa resorts. Spring and autumn are ideal.

Morocco has quietly become a wonderful wellness destination, and it makes complete sense once you are here — the country has a centuries-old culture of the hammam and the bathing ritual, a tradition of argan oil and natural treatments, gorgeous tranquil settings, and a slow, sensory pace of life that lends itself to a reset. I arrange a lot of these retreats now, and guests come home glowing in a way a beach holiday rarely manages.

The settings cluster in a few magical pockets. The Marrakech Palmeraie — the palm grove on the city's edge — is full of serene retreat villas and resorts where you do sunrise yoga among the date palms, then drift between a hammam, a massage and a long lunch, with the buzz of the medina a safe distance away. The Atlas foothills around the Ourika valley and Imlil offer cooler, greener, mountain-air retreats where yoga pairs with gentle hikes and waterfalls. And the Atlantic coast — Essaouira and the surf-and-yoga camps down toward Agadir and Taghazout — combines yoga with sea air, surfing and a famously laid-back, bohemian vibe.

What I love is how Moroccan these retreats feel rather than generic. A good one weaves in the local traditions: a proper gommage scrub and black-soap hammam ritual, argan and rose treatments, fragrant tagines and fresh juices tuned for wellness, meditation in a riad courtyard with a fountain trickling, perhaps a session with a local healer or a sound bath under the stars in the desert. You can find every style and budget — from rustic, off-grid eco-lodges with composting and solar power, through dedicated yoga shalas, to opulent five-star spa resorts with hammams that feel like temples.

A few honest pointers. Quality varies, so it pays to choose carefully — I vet the teachers and the venues, because "yoga retreat" can mean anything from a transformative week with a brilliant instructor to a hotel that simply rolled out some mats. Decide whether you want a structured group retreat (set schedule, fellow guests, a named teacher) or a bespoke private wellness stay where I build your own programme of yoga, spa and excursions. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the loveliest seasons; Marrakech summers are too hot for comfortable practice, though the coast stays pleasant.

These retreats also pair beautifully with the rest of a Morocco trip — a few restorative days to bookend the adventure of the desert and the souks. Tell me what you are after — deep yoga immersion, a spa-led detox, surf-and-stretch by the ocean, or simply rest in a beautiful place with treatments on tap — and I will match you to the right setting and people. It is one of the most rejuvenating ways to experience the country.
