For a full beach-and-swimming holiday, August and September are best in Agadir: warm 26–27°C air and the sea at its yearly peak of 20–22°C. For sunny warmth without crowds or swimming, May and October are ideal; for winter sun, January–February — though the sea stays cool then.
The 'best' month for Agadir depends entirely on what you want from the beach, so I always ask one question first: do you actually want to swim, or do you want to lie in the sun? If swimming matters, the answer is late summer. August and into September give you the warmest sea of the year — 20–22°C — paired with reliably warm 26–27°C air and that gentle Atlantic breeze. The water lags the air all summer, so September can quietly be the most swimmable month of all.
If you just want guaranteed sunshine and warmth without the peak-season crowds or the swimming, I point people to the shoulder months — May and October. Days are a lovely 24–25°C, the beach is pleasant and far less packed, hotel rates are gentler, and the light is beautiful. These are my personal favourites for an Agadir beach trip: all the warmth and ease, none of the August crush. The sea is a touch cooler but still fine for paddling and brief dips.
Then there's the winter-sun crowd, who come December to February for 20–21°C days in midwinter. That's a real and reliable draw, but be clear-eyed: the sea is around 17°C then, so it's sunbathing and walking rather than swimming. If a heated pool is in your hotel, winter works wonderfully for a warm escape; if you must swim in the ocean, it won't satisfy you.
So my honest ranking: for a true swim-and-sand holiday, September just edges out August thanks to the warm sea and thinning crowds. For sunny relaxation at the best overall value, October or May. For escaping the European winter, January–February. Tell me which of those three holidays you're picturing, and I'll tell you exactly when to fly.
