Overview

2 days, Agadir to Taghazout

Agadir is Morocco's premier Atlantic beach resort — rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake into a modern city of wide boulevards, a 10km sandy bay and almost 300 sunny days a year. This relaxed 2-day itinerary pairs the beachfront promenade, the Marina, the sprawling Souk El Had and the hilltop Oufella kasbah with a day trip to the palm pools of Paradise Valley or the surf breaks of Taghazout.

Suitability

Is this 2-day Morocco itinerary right for you?

This route is designed around an unhurried, relaxed rhythm — long mornings, time to linger over mint tea and few box-ticking days. Days are gentle with little strenuous walking, so it suits most travellers, including families and first-time visitors to Morocco. It works best for groups of 1–12 (we find 2 is the sweet spot), and because every departure is private we can stretch or compress it to fit your dates.

  • You have 2 days and want to see Agadir, Paradise Valley, Taghazout
  • You want a route shaped by people who run it on the ground, not a generic template
  • You prefer comfort over roughing it — riads, hotels and a private vehicle throughout

Why private

Why book this as a private tour?

On a group coach you follow the crowd's clock. On a private Serenity itinerary the day bends to you: a slower morning in the medina, an extra hour at a viewpoint, dinner moved earlier for the kids. You travel with your own licensed driver-guide and air-conditioned vehicle, sleep in hand-picked riads rather than chain hotels, and skip the daily wait for 30 strangers to reboard the bus.

The journey, day by day

Your 2-day Morocco itinerary

A full breakdown of every day — morning, afternoon and evening, plus where you eat, where you sleep and what to know before you set off. Everything is private and fully adjustable.

01

Day 1: Beach, Marina, Souk El Had & the Oufella Kasbah

Agadir

Agadir was rebuilt from the ground up after the 1960 earthquake, so its appeal is modern and easy: nearly 300 sunny days a year, a 10km crescent of safe Atlantic sand and a relaxed resort rhythm. Spend the morning on the promenade and at the marina, dive into the vast Souk El Had after lunch, then ride the téléphérique up to the Oufella kasbah ruins for sunset over the bay, with the giant Arabic slogan "God, Country, King" glowing on the hillside below.

Morning

2-3 hours

Beach Promenade & Marina d'Agadir

Walk the palm-lined corniche along Agadir's 10km beach, then continue to the Marina d'Agadir, a smart harbour of whitewashed apartments, cafés and moored yachts. Optional swim or a coffee watching the fishing boats come in.

Afternoon

2 hours

Souk El Had Market

Explore Souk El Had, one of Morocco's largest markets with roughly 6,000 stalls behind ochre walls. Wander sections for spices, argan oil, ceramics, leather and fresh produce. Closed Mondays, so time your visit. Practise your bargaining.

Evening

2 hours

Téléphérique to Agadir Oufella & Sunset

Take the modern cable car (opened 2021) up to the Agadir Oufella kasbah ruins at ~236m. Survey the whole bay at golden hour and see the floodlit hillside slogan "الله، الوطن، الملك" (God, Country, King). Dinner back at the marina.

Travel note · Souk El Had is closed on Mondays. The Atlantic here can be breezy in the afternoon, so a light layer is handy even on warm days.

02

Day 2: Day Trip: Paradise Valley Palm Gorge or Taghazout Surf Village

Paradise Valley · 130 km · 2.5-3 hours total drive

Trade the city for the coast and mountains. Drive about 60km up the Imouzzer road into the High Atlas foothills to Paradise Valley, a palm-filled gorge of clear emerald pools where you can swim, scramble between boulders and picnic under the palms. Surfers and beach lovers can instead head ~20km north to Taghazout, a former fishing village turned global surf hub, for a lesson at Anchor Point, a long lunch and an Atlantic sunset before returning to Agadir.

Morning

3-4 hours

Drive to Paradise Valley & Natural Pools

Scenic drive inland on the Imouzzer road through argan groves to Paradise Valley. Walk the palm gorge to a string of natural rock pools fed by spring water and swim in the clear, cool water. Cliff-jumping spots for the brave.

Afternoon

3 hours

Taghazout Surf Village (or relaxed lunch)

Continue to Taghazout, Morocco's surf capital, famous for the Anchor Point and Hash Point breaks. Take a beginner surf lesson, browse the boho cafés and craft shops, or simply lunch on a rooftop above the beach watching the line-up.

Evening

2 hours

Atlantic Sunset & Return to Agadir

Watch the sun drop into the Atlantic from the Taghazout or Tamraght shore, then drive the short coast road back to Agadir. Final dinner in the city, or onward to your airport transfer.

2-day Morocco itinerary FAQs

How many days do you need in Agadir?

Two days is ideal for a first visit: one day for the beach, Marina, Souk El Had and the Oufella kasbah, and a second day for a trip to Paradise Valley or the surf village of Taghazout. Beach lovers happily stay longer.

What is Agadir known for?

Agadir is Morocco's leading beach resort, famous for its 10km golden-sand bay, near year-round sunshine, the huge Souk El Had market, the hilltop Oufella kasbah and its role as a gateway to Paradise Valley and the Taghazout surf coast.

What does the slogan on the Agadir hill mean?

The giant Arabic letters on the Oufella hillside read "الله، الوطن، الملك" — "God, Country, King" — Morocco's national motto. They are floodlit at night and visible across the bay.

Is Agadir worth visiting?

Yes, if you want sun, sea and relaxation rather than ancient medinas. Agadir is modern (rebuilt after 1960) with a clean, safe beach, good seafood, family attractions like Crocoparc, and easy access to Paradise Valley and Taghazout.

How do you get to Paradise Valley from Agadir?

Paradise Valley is about 60km northeast of Agadir via the Imouzzer road, roughly a one-hour drive. Most visitors go by private car, taxi or organised day trip, then walk into the palm gorge to reach the natural pools.

What is Souk El Had in Agadir?

Souk El Had is one of Morocco's largest markets, with around 6,000 stalls inside ochre walls selling spices, argan oil, ceramics, leather, clothing and fresh produce. It is closed on Mondays.

Can you surf near Agadir?

Yes. Taghazout, about 20km north, is Morocco's surf capital with renowned point breaks such as Anchor Point and Hash Point, plus beginner-friendly beaches and surf schools at nearby Tamraght and Banana Beach.

When is the best time to visit Agadir?

Agadir is pleasant year-round thanks to its mild Atlantic climate. Winters (December–February) stay sunny and warm, making it a top European winter-sun escape, while spring and autumn are ideal for combining beach and day trips.

Is Agadir good for families?

Very much so. The gentle beach, promenade, marina, the cable car to the Oufella kasbah and Crocoparc (home to hundreds of Nile crocodiles and a botanical garden) make Agadir one of Morocco's most family-friendly destinations.

Insider tips

Before you go

  • Agadir is a year-round sun destination — mild even in winter, making it a popular December–February escape
  • Souk El Had is closed on Mondays; Tuesdays and weekends are busiest
  • The beach is good for swimming but afternoon Atlantic winds suit windsurfers — mornings are calmest
  • Agadir is a modern resort city, not an ancient medina — set expectations toward beach, food and day trips
  • Carry small dirham notes for the cable car, parking and market tips
  • For Paradise Valley, go early to beat both the heat and the crowds at the pools
  • Dress is relaxed and beach-friendly in Agadir, but cover up modestly when visiting the souk
