Yes. The most accessible via ferrata is at Terres d'Amanar near Marrakech, with cabled routes for varied levels. More serious cabled and scrambling routes exist around Todra Gorge and the High Atlas. You are clipped to a steel cable with a harness, so no climbing experience is needed for the beginner routes.

Via ferrata — "iron path" — is the perfect bridge for people who want the thrill of being on a cliff without the skill of true rock climbing. You wear a harness with two clips that run along a fixed steel cable, with rungs, ladders and footholds bolted into the rock, so you are always secured and you simply move along the route. In Morocco the most established and accessible course is at Terres d'Amanar near Tahnaout, about forty minutes from Marrakech, where guided beginner and intermediate routes let you traverse rock faces with the Atlas falling away below.

I have taken nervous first-timers along the Amanar routes and watched their confidence build clip by clip — by the end they are leaning back off ledges they would not have approached an hour earlier. Because everything is fixed and a guide leads you, it is far more approachable than it looks from the ground, while still delivering genuine exposure and a real sense of achievement.

For those wanting something wilder, the limestone around Todra Gorge and parts of the High Atlas offer cabled scrambles and aided routes that a qualified mountain guide can set up, often combining via ferrata sections with light climbing and ridge scrambling. These need a proper guide, the right kit and a head for heights, and reward you with terrain few visitors ever touch.

Practically, I always book via ferrata with certified guides who provide the harness, lanyards and helmet and check every clip — this is not an activity to improvise. Wear sturdy trainers or approach shoes, bring gloves for the cables, and pick the route honestly to your comfort level. Autumn and spring give the best temperatures; midsummer rock gets hot. For active travellers it is one of the most exhilarating half-days the Marrakech region offers.
