Day 1
The Todra Gorge Canyon
Todra Gorge
Your first day is given over to one of Morocco's most dramatic natural sights. The Todra Gorge, carved by the Todra river through the eastern High Atlas, narrows to a corridor barely ~10m wide between cliffs that soar some 300m straight up. You walk from the gorge mouth, where the road squeezes between the rock and the stream, deeper into the canyon, passing palm groves, Berber stalls and climbers chalked to the walls, as the light shifts dramatically across the limestone through the day.
Morning
2.5 hoursWalk into the Narrows
Start at the gorge entrance and walk the flat path beside the Todra river into the spectacular narrows, where the limestone walls rise around 300m and pinch to roughly 10m apart - the most photographed stretch of the canyon, coolest and quietest in the early morning.
Afternoon
3 hoursUpper Gorge & Climbers' Trails
Continue past the narrows along quieter upper trails where Berber hamlets cling to the valley and rock climbers tackle world-class limestone routes. Optional short hikes climb the canyon rim for bird's-eye views, with mint tea at a riverside cafe to finish.
Evening
2 hoursDinner Beneath the Cliffs
Settle into a gorge-side guesthouse as the canyon falls into shadow and the stars come out over the cliffs, with a warming Berber tagine and the sound of the river running past your terrace.
