From Hong Kong (HKG) there is no nonstop to Morocco; the best routes connect through a Gulf hub (Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi) or Europe into Casablanca (CMN), typically 18–23 hours total. Build in a recovery day, plan 10–14 days, and verify live schedules before booking.
Hong Kong to Morocco is a genuine long-haul, and I plan it as such. No airline flies it nonstop. The routings I rely on send you through a Gulf hub — Qatar Airways via Doha, Emirates via Dubai or Etihad via Abu Dhabi — with an onward leg into Casablanca, or alternatively through a European gateway like Istanbul, Paris or Amsterdam. Counting the connection, total journey time usually runs eighteen to twenty-three hours into CMN.
The clock shift is substantial: Morocco is about seven or eight hours behind Hong Kong depending on the season, so westbound jet lag bites. I never let a Hong Kong guest start touring on arrival day. Instead I plan a recovery night in Casablanca — land, settle, sleep — so the first real day in the medinas is spent awake and enjoying it rather than fighting fatigue.
Given the distance, I recommend ten to fourteen days so the trip justifies the flight. A loop I love for Hong Kong travellers blends Casablanca and Rabat, the imperial grandeur of Fes, blue Chefchaouen, a two-night Sahara camp at Merzouga, the kasbah trail through Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou, then Marrakech and Essaouira. The contrast with dense, vertical Hong Kong — endless desert horizons, low ochre towns, mountain passes — is exactly what makes Morocco land so memorably.
For paperwork, Hong Kong SAR passport holders should verify Morocco's current tourist entry rules and any stay limits before booking, since these can change and I prefer guests confirm with an official source. I also lock in live schedules and comfortable connection times, because long routings with a single transfer leave little room for a missed leg. And if the 2030 World Cup is your motivation, reserve flights and host-city accommodation early — Casablanca and Marrakech will be at a premium around fixtures.
