There are no direct flights from Perth (PER) to Morocco, but Perth is the closest Australian city to the Gulf. Route via Doha with Qatar Airways, Dubai with Emirates, or Abu Dhabi with Etihad, then on to Casablanca. Expect roughly 23–28 hours total door-to-door; a stopover is wise.

Perth has one quiet advantage when it comes to Morocco: it's the closest Australian capital to the Gulf, which trims a few hours off an already long journey. There's still no direct service to Morocco from PER, so the trip routes through a Gulf hub — Qatar Airways via Doha is my usual recommendation for the smoothest single-stop path to Casablanca, with Emirates via Dubai and Etihad via Abu Dhabi as strong alternatives. The European routing (via London or Paris) exists but tends to run longer. Total travel time is around 23–28 hours, slightly shorter than the eastern Australian cities. Always verify live schedules before you book.

Even with that head start, the flight is long enough that I usually build in a Gulf stopover for my Perth clients — a night or two in Doha or Dubai to sleep flat and reset before Morocco. West Australians come from a place of huge open spaces, red earth, and serious sunshine, so the Sahara feels like a strange homecoming: the scale of Erg Chebbi, the dunes turning copper at dusk, the absolute quiet at night. I lean their trips toward that landscape, balanced with the sensory chaos of the medinas, and an easy first day to land softly.

For the itinerary, given the distance I rarely recommend a rushed week. A focused seven days works — Marrakech, a day over the High Atlas to a Berber village, and a night in a Sahara camp near Merzouga — but most of my Perth clients stretch to ten or more days to make the journey worthwhile. That's when I add Fes, Chefchaouen, and the Atlantic coast, slowing the whole rhythm down. Everything is matched to your interests rather than a fixed route, with sensible driving days throughout.

Logistics: Perth runs roughly seven to nine hours ahead of Morocco, so the time change is real — the Gulf stopover does most of the work of easing it. Australian citizens travel visa-free for up to 90 days, ATMs on arrival give the best dirham rate, and Morocco's spring and autumn (opposite your seasons) are the most comfortable for both cities and desert. With Morocco co-hosting the 2030 World Cup, I'm already helping West Australian fans plan early scouting trips — and Perth's shorter Gulf hop makes a smart routing easy to lock in.
