Yes — Morocco is a deeply romantic anniversary destination. Private candlelit riad dinners, a couples hammam, sunset over the dunes and a night under the stars create the kind of memories an anniversary calls for. Brief your riad and guide so the surprises are handled, and keep the pace slow and indulgent.
Anniversaries are about marking time together, and Morocco gives that occasion a backdrop and a level of pampering that's hard to match. The country's whole hospitality culture leans towards making a couple feel special — rose petals on the bed, a private dinner arranged at a word, a host who quietly upgrades your table to the best spot on the rooftop. I plan a lot of anniversary trips, and the brief is almost always the same: romance, indulgence, and a couple of moments big enough to remember the trip by.
The romantic set-pieces are easy to engineer here. A private candlelit dinner in a riad courtyard or on a rooftop over the medina, lanterns and a tagine cooked just for you. A couples hammam followed by a side-by-side massage. And the headline, whenever the itinerary allows: sunset over the Sahara and a night in a luxury camp, dinner under a canopy of stars and a sunrise camel ride to mark the milestone. For couples staying near Marrakech, the Agafay desert delivers a similar candlelit-in-the-wild evening within an hour of the city.
I always tailor the trip to the anniversary itself. A first or fifth might lean playful and adventurous — a cooking class, a desert excursion, a rooftop cocktail at sunset. A big one, a twenty-fifth or beyond, often wants something more reflective and luxurious — exclusive use of a beautiful riad, a vow-renewal blessing on the dunes, a slow few days with nowhere to be. Some couples retrace a honeymoon, others come for the first time; either way I shape the indulgence around the number being celebrated.
My practical role is to make the romance feel effortless, which means handling the surprises behind the scenes. I brief the riad and the guide in advance so the special dinner appears without you arranging it, the champagne is chilled, the photographer is discreetly in place if you want one, and the difficult logistics simply vanish. I keep the pace slow — anniversaries are for lingering, not for ticking off sights — with a couple of relaxed bases and short transfers. Tell me what you're celebrating, let me orchestrate the moments, and Morocco gives you an anniversary trip you'll be talking about for years.
