Yes — May is excellent and slightly quieter than April. Warm, sunny days (24–28°C), the Rose Festival in the valleys and ideal Atlas trekking. The desert is getting hot by midday but still rewarding. A top-tier shoulder month with great weather and easing crowds.

May is one of the last truly comfortable months before summer heat takes hold, and it offers a wonderful balance: spring's warmth and greenery with slightly fewer crowds than peak April. Marrakech and Fes warm into the mid-to-high 20s°C, the light is brilliant, and rain is rare. It is a superb month for a wide-ranging itinerary, particularly if you love the outdoors.

This is prime trekking season in the High Atlas. The snow has retreated from most trails, valleys are lush and flower-filled, and even ascents of Mount Toubkal (North Africa's highest peak at 4,167m) become feasible for fit hikers. The Ourika, Imlil and Ait Bouguemez valleys are at their most beautiful — green terraces, rushing snowmelt streams and warm, walkable days.

The Sahara is still very much worth it in May, with a caveat: midday is hot and climbing. Around Merzouga and Zagora you will want to do your dune walks and camel treks in the early morning or late afternoon, resting through the fierce midday sun. Nights, however, are now pleasantly warm — among the most comfortable evenings of the year for sleeping under the stars in a desert camp.

May usually captures the tail of the Kelaat M'Gouna Rose Festival in the Dades Valley, and the coast comes into its own: Essaouira's wind eases slightly and Agadir is reliably warm and sunny without being oppressive. Crowds soften from the April peak and prices ease a little, making May a savvy choice for travellers wanting excellent weather without the absolute busiest dates.

Bottom line: May is a top-tier month — ideal for trekkers and active travellers, lovely in the cities and on the coast, and still good for the desert if you respect the midday heat. A smart pick for great conditions with a touch more breathing room than April.
