In cities, yes. Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes have fast 4G and decent fibre, so video calls and remote work are realistic. A local SIM or eSIM is cheap and reliable. The desert and remote mountains are patchy — plan offline time there.
I have run full work days from cafés in Marrakech and co-working spaces in Casablanca without drama. Urban 4G is genuinely good, and many riads, hotels, and cafés now have fibre or solid Wi-Fi. Standard video calls, email, and cloud tools all work fine; I would not hesitate to schedule client calls from a city base.
The single best move for a working traveller is a local SIM or eSIM. Maroc Telecom, Orange, and Inwi all sell tourist data bundles for a few euros, and tethering off your phone is often more reliable than café Wi-Fi when it counts. I buy a data SIM at the airport or a downtown shop on day one and stop worrying about connectivity.
Set expectations realistically for the romantic parts of the country. In the Sahara, the Atlas mountain villages, and small rural towns, coverage thins to slow 3G or vanishes entirely. Desert camps may have a weak signal at reception and none at your tent. I treat those days as deliberately offline — which, honestly, is half the point of going.
My practical rhythm for a "workation" here: anchor in a city for the focused work stretch, download anything you will need (maps, documents, boarding passes) before heading into the mountains or desert, and warn colleagues you will be off-grid for those one or two days. That structure has let me combine real deadlines with a real Morocco trip more than once.
