April is peak season and arguably the best month in Marrakech — warm, sunny days of 24–26°C, balmy evenings, and the city at its most beautiful. Crowds and prices are at their highest, especially around Easter, so book well ahead. Ideal for gardens, rooftops, day trips and the desert.

April is, for my money, Marrakech at its absolute finest, and it is no coincidence that it is the most popular month to visit. Days settle into a glorious 24 to 26°C — warm and sunny without the punishing heat of summer — and the evenings are finally balmy enough to dine outdoors comfortably. Everything the city does well is at its peak: the gardens are vivid, the rooftop scene is buzzing, the bougainvillea is in full flower, and the light has that warm clarity that makes the ochre walls glow.

This is full high season, which is the trade-off for that perfect weather. Marrakech is busy in April — the sights are crowded, Jemaa el-Fnaa hums every evening, and the best riads and guides are booked solid months in advance. Easter is the single busiest period of the spring, and if your trip overlaps it you should book four to six months ahead and expect premium rates. Even outside Easter, April commands the highest riad prices of the year alongside its autumn counterpart, October.

The pace and energy of an April visit are part of the appeal for many guests, but if you dislike crowds, target weekdays for the major sights and explore the medina early in the morning before the day-trippers arrive. I often steer April guests towards the quieter corners — the Secret Garden, lesser-known riad rooftops, a hammam in the afternoon heat — to balance the busier headline attractions. The city rewards a little strategic timing in its peak month.

For activities, April is the most versatile month of all. The rooftop pools are finally warm enough to enjoy, the gardens are at their best, day trips to the green Ourika Valley and the Atlas are glorious, and the Sahara hits its sweet spot — warm clear days and comfortable, no-longer-freezing nights make April one of the two best months for a desert extension. The only real downsides are the cost and the crowds. If you can absorb those, April gives you Marrakech exactly as the brochures promise, and then some.
