A wedding in Marrakech, from riad to desert
A riad courtyard in the medina, a villa in the palms or a dinner in the Agafay desert, all within an hour of each other. We take care of the rooms, the ceremony and every guest.
In short
Marrakech is one of the easiest places in Morocco for a destination wedding: direct flights, every kind of setting within an hour, and a whole city for your guests to explore.
Small weddings suit a riad in the medina; larger ones a hotel garden or a Palmeraie villa; the Agafay desert gives you a desert evening without the long drive to the dunes. We plan and run all of it: lodging, ceremony, dinners and your guests’ days.
Rings of the city
From the medina outward
Every kind of Marrakech wedding sits on a ring out from the old city. The further out, the more space and quiet; the closer in, the more city at your guests’ feet.
- The medina Walking distanceRiads and palace-style houses behind plain doors: courtyards, fountains, rooftop dinners.
- Hivernage and Gueliz About 10 minutesHotels and gardens with space for larger numbers, close to everything.
- The Palmeraie About 20 minutesVillas and estates among the palms: exclusive use, lawns, pools.
- Agafay About 45 minutesA stony desert with the Atlas behind it: camps and open-air dinners, no dunes.
- The Atlas foothills About an hourLodges and kasbahs in the valleys, with mountain views and cooler air.
Schematic, not to scale. Drive times are approximate, from the medina, and change with traffic.

When
The season
Spring and autumn are the sweet spot: warm days and soft evenings for an outdoor dinner.
Summer is very hot in the day, so ceremonies move to the evening. Winter days are bright but nights are cold: plan heaters, or an indoor salon.

Moroccan touches
- The henna nightA night or two before the wedding, the bride’s hands and feet are painted with henna, among women, with music and sweets. Many couples borrow it as a guest evening.
- The negafaThe woman who dresses the bride and guides her through the night, including the changes of outfit: a Moroccan wedding often sees several caftans.
- The amariyaA decorated litter in which the bride, and often the couple, is lifted shoulder-high by bearers and carried around the room.
- Dates and milkOffered to guests, and to the couple, as a sign of welcome and sweetness.
- The musicGnawa, an Andalusian ensemble or chaabi for the dancing: each an option you can add.

A wedding in Marrakech: your questions
How many guests suit a riad wedding in Marrakech?
Riads suit intimate weddings; numbers depend on the house. For larger groups, a hotel garden or an exclusive-use Palmeraie villa gives more space. Each venue confirms its own limits for your dates.
Is Agafay a real desert?
Agafay is a stony desert plateau about 45 minutes from Marrakech, with views of the Atlas, but no sand dunes. For dunes, the Erg Chebbi at Merzouga is a long drive or a flight away.
What can guests do around the wedding?
A private guide through the medina, a hammam, a cooking class, an Atlas valley day trip, a camel ride in Agafay, or a few days on to the Sahara or Essaouira. We plan these for your guests.
Do you plan the whole wedding?
Yes: lodging for you and your guests, the ceremony with its setting, decor, flowers, music and officiant, the welcome dinner and henna night, a photographer on request, airport pickups and guest day trips, and the honeymoon after.
When is the best time for a Marrakech wedding?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (October and November). Summer days are very hot, so plan an evening ceremony; winter nights are cold.
How much does a destination wedding in Morocco cost?
It depends on the number of guests, the kind of venue, how many days you celebrate, the decor and flowers, the catering and the guests’ stays and days out. Tell us your plans and we send a free, itemised quote within 24 hours.
Can we marry legally in Morocco?
Most couples sign the legal paperwork at home and celebrate here; we plan the celebration end to end.

- An itemised quote: what is included and what is not
- Who is planning your trip, and how to reach them on WhatsApp

Every trip is private and priced to your dates, so there is no fixed price list. Ask, and the proposal shows the full cost before anything is booked.
