From Pune (PNQ) there are no direct flights — connect via Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi to Casablanca (around 14 hours including the stop), or via Istanbul. Some travellers prefer driving to Mumbai for more options. Indian passport holders need a Morocco e-visa, so apply early; then plan a 7–10 day trip.
Pune travellers have two practical doors to Morocco, and there is no direct flight on either. From PNQ you connect through a Gulf hub — Emirates via Dubai, Qatar Airways via Doha or Etihad via Abu Dhabi — to Casablanca, with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul as an alternative. Because Pune is close to Mumbai, some of my clients drive over and depart from there for wider flight choice. Either way, plan on about 14 hours of total air time including the stop, and verify live schedules with the airline before booking.
The visa is where I slow people down. Indian passport holders require a visa for Morocco; the Moroccan e-visa is usually the easiest route, but it must be arranged before you travel and the rules are updated from time to time. Apply early and verify the current eligibility and documents on the official Moroccan e-visa portal. I tell Pune guests to begin the application the moment flights are confirmed, so there is no pressure later.
For the trip, Pune travellers tend to be independent-minded and active, so I build energetic loops. A 7-day plan covers Marrakech, an Atlas overnight, two nights under the Sahara stars near Merzouga, and Fes. Ten days adds Chefchaouen and a coastal day in Essaouira. A private driver handles the long, scenic inter-city drives, which is the right call when you have already spent a day getting to North Africa.
My Pune-specific tip: decide your departure airport early, because it changes everything downstream. If you fly from Mumbai you get more frequencies and sometimes better fares, but you add the road leg from Pune. Whichever you choose, keep day one in Morocco light — the country runs about four and a half hours behind India and you will wake early naturally. Use our 7-day or 10-day itineraries below to frame the journey.
