What Rabat is like in March

March brings spring to the Atlantic capital. Daytime highs climb to around 19°C, the rain begins to ease, and the gardens of the Oudayas and the Chellah turn green and fragrant. The light improves, the storks are nesting in earnest on the Chellah ruins, and the long riverside medina and the Hassan Tower esplanade are pleasant to walk for full days. Evenings are still cool, so a jacket is handy, but the city feels brighter and more alive.

Good to know

Rabat in March: your questions

Is March a good time to visit Rabat?+
Yes — March is a comfortable, value-led month. Spring brings highs around 19°C, easing rain and greening gardens, while the capital still sits ahead of the main crowds. Monuments stay calm and prices reasonable. It is a relaxed time to explore Rabat and pair it with inland trips to Meknes and Volubilis.
How hot is Rabat in March?+
Rabat in March has daytime highs of around 19°C and night-time lows near 9°C. Days are mild and pleasant for full-day sightseeing in a light layer, while evenings stay cool and need a jacket. The Atlantic keeps temperatures gentle and even.
Is it rainy in Rabat in March?+
March is drier than midwinter, with around 6–7 rainy days as spring sets in. Showers are usually briefer and brighter spells longer. You can plan most days outdoors, keeping a light rain layer for the occasional passing front off the ocean.
What should I pack for Rabat in March?+
Pack layers for mild days and cool evenings, a light jacket for after dark, a light rain layer for spring showers, comfortable walking shoes and sunglasses. The capital's maritime spring is changeable but rarely cold, so heavy winter gear is unnecessary.

  • It is an excellent month for the slow, photogenic side of Rabat. The blue-washed Kasbah des Oudayas above the river, the Andalusian gardens, the Mohammed VI modern-art museum and the medina down to the sea all reward unhurried exploration. As the season opens, the capital still sits ahead of the main crowds, so monuments stay calm and prices remain reasonable — a quiet advantage before spring demand builds across Morocco.

Rabat in March pairs neatly with the wider imperial north. Casablanca is an easy train ride, and the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial gate-city of Meknes make rewarding inland excursions in the milder spring weather. With greener gardens, easing rain and lighter crowds, March is a comfortable, value-led month to take in the capital and its surroundings at a relaxed pace.
