What Rabat is like in April

April is one of Rabat's finest months. Daytime highs settle around 21°C, the gardens are lush, the storks are busy on the Chellah ruins, and the Atlantic light is clear and generous. Rain becomes occasional rather than frequent, evenings are pleasantly mild, and the whole capital is comfortable to explore from morning to dusk. For sightseeing — the Oudayas, the Hassan Tower, the medina and the riverfront — there are few better windows.

Good to know

Rabat in April: your questions

Is April a good time to visit Rabat?+
Yes — April is one of the best months. Highs around 21°C, lush gardens and clear Atlantic light make it ideal for full-day sightseeing, while rain becomes occasional. The capital stays calmer than Morocco's headline cities. It is near-perfect for a first visit and for pairing with Casablanca, Meknes and Volubilis.
How hot is Rabat in April?+
Rabat in April has daytime highs of around 21°C and night-time lows near 11°C. Days are warm and bright but not harsh, ideal for all-day exploring, and evenings are pleasantly mild. The ocean keeps the capital comfortable throughout the month.
Is it rainy in Rabat in April?+
April is mostly dry, with around 5 rainy days and plenty of warm, bright spring weather. Showers, when they come, are brief. You can plan city sightseeing and inland day trips with high confidence, keeping just a light rain layer on hand for the occasional passing front.
What should I pack for Rabat in April?+
Pack light, breathable daywear, a light layer for mild evenings, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and sunglasses, plus a light rain layer just in case. The capital's warm, settled spring rarely needs more than a thin jacket after dark.

  • The mild maritime climate makes April ideal for combining the capital with a wider northern itinerary. Casablanca is an easy hour away by train, while the Roman city of Volubilis and the grand gate of Bab Mansour at Meknes are rewarding day trips in warm, settled spring weather. In Rabat itself, the gardens of the Oudayas and the Andalusian quarter are at their most colourful, and the long walk down the medina to the sea is a pleasure.

Crowds and prices begin to build with the spring travel season, but Rabat stays calmer than Morocco's headline cities, so it remains relaxed and good value by comparison. The combination of warm, bright days, green gardens and reliably mild weather makes April a near-ideal month for a first, full-featured visit to Morocco's elegant, unhurried capital.
