What Fes is like in April

April is one of the finest months to be in Fes. Daytime highs settle around 24°C — warm and bright without the heat of summer — evenings are mild, and the city and its surroundings are at their greenest and most fragrant. Long days exploring the medina are comfortable from morning to night: the descent down Talaa Kebira, the Chouara tanneries from a leather-shop terrace, the madrasas, the spice and brass souks all reward an unhurried full day under generous spring light.

Good to know

Fes in April: your questions

Is April a good time to visit Fes?+
Yes — April is one of the best months. Highs around 24°C are warm but comfortable, the plains are green, and the medina and every day trip are at their best. The catch is popularity: April is high season, especially around Easter, so book riads, guides and tours well ahead.
How warm is Fes in April?+
Fes in April has daytime highs of around 24°C and night-time lows near 10°C. Days are warm and bright but not harsh, allowing full-day sightseeing, while evenings are mild and pleasant for rooftop dining. It is one of the most comfortable, balanced months in the Fes calendar.
Does it rain in Fes in April?+
April is mostly dry, with around 5 rainy days and plenty of warm, bright weather. Showers, when they come, are usually brief. You can plan medina sightseeing and day trips to Volubilis, Meknes or the Middle Atlas with high confidence, keeping just a light rain layer on hand.
What should I pack for Fes in April?+
Pack light, breathable daywear, a light layer for mild evenings, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection — sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses — and a light rain layer for the occasional shower. A warmer layer is useful only for higher Middle Atlas day trips, which stay cooler.

  • It is a near-ideal month for the wider region too. Meknes and the Roman ruins of Volubilis stand against lush green plains, the Middle Atlas cedar forests and Ifrane are crisp and walkable, and the road south toward the desert is comfortable by day. In the city, warm evenings make rooftop dinners a pleasure again, and the slow craft and food circuits — a cooking class, a pottery cooperative, a long terrace lunch — show Fes at its most rewarding.

Popularity is the main catch: April, especially around Easter, is high season for Fes, so book riads, guides and tours well ahead and expect the headline sights to be busier than in the quiet winter months. The trade-off is weather close to perfect across the whole region — warm, green and bright — making April an excellent choice for a first, ambitious visit that wants Fes and its day trips at their very best.
