October marks the beginning of Morocco's golden season. The fierce summer heat that keeps temperatures above 40°C in Marrakech and the desert has broken, replaced by warm, pleasant days ideal for exploring medinas, hiking mountain trails, and riding camels through the Sahara dunes.
Hotel rates sit in a sweet spot: lower than the peak October-November demand that builds as word spreads about Morocco's autumn perfection, but higher than the deep winter discounts of January. Booking in early October gives you the best combination of weather, value, and availability.
The date harvest in the Draa Valley and Erfoud region brings a festive agricultural atmosphere to southern Morocco. Palm oases are heavy with fruit, and the annual Erfoud Date Festival transforms this small Saharan gateway town into a celebration of local culture, food, and tradition.
Warm and sunny. Still hot midday but evenings are pleasant. Perfect medina weather from 9-11am and 4-7pm.
Warm days with cooler mornings. Occasional light showers possible later in the month. Comfortable for tannery visits.
Ideal desert weather. Hot midday but manageable. Perfect for sunrise and sunset camel treks. Clear stargazing nights.
Mild and comfortable. Atlantic breeze moderates heat. Great beach weather without summer wind intensity.
Autumn colours beginning. Warm days, cool evenings. First rains refresh the blue city. Atmospheric photography.
Perfect trekking weather. Clear visibility for Toubkal summit attempts. No snow yet on lower passes.
October sits in the shoulder season sweet spot. Early October still benefits from summer's lower demand, while late October sees a gradual uptick as peak autumn travel season begins. Overall, expect 10-15% savings compared to the November peak.
