Merzouga in March

This is superb timing for the full Merzouga experience. Sunset camel treks into the dunes, nights under canvas, and sunrise over Erg Chebbi are all comfortable, while the still-cool nights keep the stargazing excellent. The near-total dryness means clear skies are all but guaranteed, so desert itineraries run smoothly, and the moderate temperatures make the dunes a pleasure to explore from morning to evening rather than a test of endurance.

March is ideal as the desert climax of a southern circuit, reached overland through the Dades and Draa valleys from Ouarzazate. The days are warm and comfortable, the nights cool rather than cold, and the crowds remain modest before the spring peak.
