For an all-round visit, October is the best month — warm 25–26°C days, a still-swimmable ~20–21°C sea, abundant sun, light crowds and great value. For pure swimming, choose September (warmest sea). For winter sun, choose January (calm and best value). For spring scenery, choose April.
If you force me to name a single best month for Agadir overall, I'll say October — and I'll defend it. October is the month where everything Agadir does well lines up at once: daytime highs of a comfortable 25–26°C, an Atlantic still holding late-summer warmth at around 20–21°C so swimming is genuinely pleasant, abundant sunshine, low humidity, light crowds now that the summer rush has gone, and some of the best accommodation value of the year. You can swim in the morning, explore inland in the afternoon and dine outdoors at night without ever being too hot, too cold or too crowded. That all-round balance is what makes it my top pick.
But 'best' really depends on your priority, so let me give you the honest alternatives. If your single non-negotiable is swimming in the warmest possible sea, choose September — because the slow-warming Atlantic peaks at roughly 21–22°C in late August and September, this is the warmest the water ever gets here, and the second half of the month adds thinning crowds to that warm sea. September and October together are the two strongest months, and between them they cover almost everyone's idea of a great beach trip.
If you're coming for winter sun rather than swimming, the calculus changes entirely. January is the sweet spot — the same lovely 20–21°C sunny days as December but without the Christmas peak prices and crowds, making it the calmest, best-value winter-sun month. And if your dream is spring scenery — green argan country, lush inland day trips and warm but not hot days — then April is glorious, with 22–23°C and the landscape at its freshest, just mind the Easter crowds.
So here's my simple decision rule. For the best all-round trip, go in October. For the warmest sea and pure swimming, go in September. For a calm, great-value winter-sun escape, go in January. For spring greenery and gentle warmth, go in April. The two peaks — Christmas–New Year and July–August — are wonderful in their own right but busy and pricey, so I'd only point you there if festive buzz or peak summer beach energy is specifically what you want. For most travellers, October is the answer.
