The best beach weather in Tangier runs from June to September, when highs reach 24–28°C (75–82°F) and the sea is warm enough to swim. July and August are hottest and busiest; September has the warmest sea and thinning crowds. June and early September are the sweet spots for warmth without the peak.
When guests ask me about beach weather in Tangier, I give them a clear window: June through September. That is when the highs sit in the comfortable mid-to-high 20s°C, the rain essentially stops, and the Atlantic finally warms enough that swimming is a pleasure rather than an act of willpower. Outside those months the sea is cool to cold—typically 16–18°C—and the wind keeps the sand empty, so I am honest that spring and autumn are for walking and looking, not for sunbathing.
Within that window, each month has a character. June is fresh, long-dayed and just getting going, with the sea warming and crowds building. July and August are the hottest, sunniest and busiest—glorious beach weather, but peak prices, peak crowds and, on the exposed beaches, the strongest summer wind. September is my quiet favourite: the sea is at its warmest of the whole year after a long summer of heating, and the holiday crowds thin out after the first couple of weeks while the weather stays superb.
A crucial Tangier-specific point: the wind. This city sits on the Strait of Gibraltar, where the levanter (easterly) and poniente (westerly) winds blow much of the year. Even in high summer you can get a stiff breeze, which is wonderful for keeping the heat bearable but can whip up sand on the most exposed beaches. I always help guests pick sheltered spots on windy days, and I check the forecast wind, not just the temperature, when planning a beach afternoon.
So my practical recommendation: if you want the hottest, surest sun and do not mind crowds, July or August. If you want warm beach weather with a bit more breathing room, target June or—best of all—the back half of September, when the water is warmest and the crowds have eased. For everything outside June–September, plan a city-and-sightseeing trip and treat the beach as a bracing bonus rather than the main event.
