Yes — Royal Air Maroc and budget carriers run domestic flights between Casablanca, Marrakech, Fes, Agadir and the desert gateways. They are worth it only for long jumps the train doesn’t cover (e.g. Marrakech–Fes). For short city hops, the train or a driver usually wins once you count airport time.
There is a working domestic network, anchored by Royal Air Maroc and its low-cost arm, plus seasonal budget routes. It connects the main hubs — Casablanca, Marrakech, Fes, Tangier, Agadir — and reaches a few further-flung airports like Errachidia near the desert and the south. Flights themselves are short, usually under an hour and a half.
Where flying genuinely earns its place is the long legs the railway cannot do directly. Marrakech to Fes is the classic example: by train you change at Casablanca for the better part of a day, by road it is an 8-hour drive, but the flight is about an hour. If those two cities are simply separate stays and you have no interest in the country in between, flying saves you a full day.
For everything else, I am sceptical. Once you add getting to the airport, checking in, security, boarding, and the taxi at the far end, a one-hour flight balloons into half a day — and for routes like Casablanca to Marrakech the train already does it in 3 comfortable hours, city centre to city centre. Short hops rarely beat the train or a driver once you do that honest arithmetic.
My rule of thumb: fly only when the alternative is a very long drive or a multi-leg train day, and when the cities are endpoints rather than part of a road trip. The desert, the mountains and the coast are about the journey, so flying past them defeats the purpose. Book domestic flights early — fares and seat availability tighten quickly in peak season.
