Safety & Certified Guides
Adventure in Morocco is rewarding because the terrain is real — preparation, certified guides, and quality equipment are non-negotiable.
Licensed Operators
For climbing, trekking above 3,000 m, and whitewater, use operators licensed by the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism.
Travel Insurance
Ensure your policy explicitly covers adventure sports, helicopter evacuation, and activity above 3,000 m altitude.
Altitude Awareness
Acclimatise for at least one day before ascending above 3,500 m. Acute Mountain Sickness is a real risk on Toubkal.
Equipment Check
Reputable operators provide helmets, harnesses, and PFDs. Always inspect equipment before use and bring personal footwear.
Weather Windows
Mountain weather changes rapidly. Check forecasts, carry layers, and be prepared to alter plans if conditions deteriorate.
Water Safety
Flash floods are possible in gorges after rain. Never enter a canyon without checking upstream weather. PFDs are mandatory for rafting.
