In winter, head south and inland for warm dry days — Marrakech, the desert (18–22°C days) and Agadir for winter sun. In summer, escape to the Atlantic coast (Essaouira/Agadir, 18–28°C) or the Atlas Mountains (20–28°C valleys). Match the region to the season and Morocco is comfortable year-round.
Morocco's secret is that it has so many micro-climates that there's almost always somewhere with great weather — the trick is matching the region to the season rather than picking a region and hoping. Let me break it down both ways.
For a winter trip (December–February), go south and stay inland or on the southern coast. Marrakech delivers warm, sunny 18–22°C days (just bring a layer for the cold nights), the desert around Merzouga and Zagora is at its most comfortable for daytime exploring with pleasant 18–22°C afternoons, and Agadir on the southern Atlantic coast is Morocco's reliable winter-sun spot at around 20°C and calm. What I'd avoid in deep winter is the high Atlas (snow, sub-zero nights) and the Rif/north (cold and wet) unless snow or green hills are specifically what you're after.
For a summer trip (June–August), do the opposite — get out of the inland furnace and head for the coast or up into the mountains. The Atlantic coast is the star: Essaouira's breezy 18–24°C and Agadir's 22–28°C are blissful while Marrakech roasts. The High Atlas valleys around Imlil sit at a fresh 20–28°C and are prime trekking country once the snow's gone. Chefchaouen and the Rif up north are also milder than the southern plains. I still take people to the cities and desert in summer — just at dawn and dusk, with the cool coast or mountains for the middle of the trip.
Spring and autumn (roughly March–May and September–November) are the easy seasons — almost everywhere is pleasant at once, which is why they're my top recommendation when dates are flexible. But if you're tied to winter or summer, the rule is simple: in winter chase the southern sun and dry warmth, in summer chase the coast and the heights. Build the itinerary around that and you'll get comfortable weather whenever you come.
