From Cardiff, Morocco is usually reached via a connection through London, Amsterdam or Paris onto Marrakech or Agadir (about 3.5 hours flying), or by using nearby Bristol for seasonal direct flights. Plan a 7–10 day loop, and always verify current schedules before booking.

For Welsh travellers, I begin with routing because Cardiff’s direct links to Morocco aren’t guaranteed year-round. The two strong options are: connect from Cardiff via a hub such as Amsterdam (KLM), London or Paris, or use Bristol airport just across the Severn, which has run seasonal direct flights to Marrakech and Agadir. Plenty of my Cardiff guests find the short trip to Bristol opens up a direct flight and better fares. As always, the first step is to check live schedules for your travel dates, since seasonal services change every year.

Connecting from Cardiff is comfortable with a single stop. Amsterdam and Paris both feed neatly onto the Morocco routes, and once you’re on the leg south it’s only about three and a half hours into Marrakech. I recommend a relaxed layover of 90 minutes or more so a delayed first flight never threatens your connection — on such a short overall journey there’s no need to rush the transfer.

With the flight framed, I plan the trip. A 7-day Marrakech loop with the High Atlas and a Sahara night suits first-timers, while a 10-day version adds Fes, the blue lanes of Chefchaouen or the Atlantic at Essaouira. Welsh travellers often love landscape and walking, so I’m happy to build in Atlas trekking, gorge hikes or a slower coastal stretch alongside the cities and the desert.

A few Cardiff-specific pointers. Treat Bristol as a genuine alternative departure point — comparing it against Cardiff-connecting fares frequently pays off. Pack warm layers for chilly desert and mountain nights. And with Morocco co-hosting the 2030 World Cup, and Wales’s strong football following, interest in trips around the tournament is climbing, so book peak dates early. Confirm the season’s flight timetable first, then we’ll craft the itinerary together.
