From Montevideo, hop to São Paulo and take Royal Air Maroc's nonstop to Casablanca (~9h), or route via Madrid. Total travel 20–26 hours. Plan 8–12 days: Casablanca, Fes, the Sahara, Marrakech. Uruguayan passport holders need a Morocco visa — sort it early.
Montevideo travellers have a genuinely neat option that I always highlight: you're close to São Paulo, and São Paulo is the single gateway in the Americas with a nonstop to Morocco. So the plan I most often build is Montevideo to São Paulo (a short couple of hours), then Royal Air Maroc straight across the Atlantic to Casablanca, roughly nine hours. The alternative is the European routing through Madrid, then a quick connection south to Marrakech or Casablanca. Door to door, expect 20 to 26 hours including the layover, and always reconfirm the São Paulo connection timing since the nonstop doesn't operate daily.
For a trip this committed, I suggest ten days as a baseline and twelve if you can. My favourite loop lands you in Casablanca, takes the train up to Fes for the great medieval medina, crosses the Middle Atlas to the Sahara for a night among the dunes, then climbs over the High Atlas through Ait Ben Haddou into Marrakech. Fly out of Marrakech to avoid backtracking. If you have extra time, Essaouira on the coast is a lovely, slower finale.
Uruguayan citizens need a visa to enter Morocco, so factor that into your timeline. The usual requirements apply: a passport with six-plus months validity, confirmed hotels, a return ticket, and proof of funds. Apply through the Moroccan consular channel covering Uruguay and give yourself a comfortable cushion. Carry printed copies of your bookings; it makes the border smoother and gives you peace of mind.
A few seasoned tips. The time difference is around four to five hours ahead of Montevideo, and crossing the Atlantic eastbound is tiring, so plan a gentle first day. Spring and autumn deliver the best weather across the whole loop. Use a fee-free card and withdraw dirhams locally. And if you're eyeing 2030, Morocco co-hosts the World Cup, which means earlier booking and busier cities — plan well ahead.
