From Quito, connect through Madrid or Bogotá–São Paulo to reach Casablanca or Marrakech, with total travel of 20–26 hours. Plan 8–12 days: Marrakech, the Sahara, Fes. Ecuadorian passport holders need a Morocco visa — apply well ahead and carry hotel and return-ticket proof.

Quito sits high in the Andes with a relatively small long-haul network, so when I route Ecuadorian travellers to Morocco I almost always send them through Europe. The cleanest path is Quito to Madrid (one stop is common, often via Bogotá or directly on the Iberia/LATAM network), then a short hop from Madrid to Marrakech or Casablanca that takes about 90 minutes to two hours. The other option is to chase the South Atlantic nonstop: reach São Paulo, then take Royal Air Maroc's direct flight to Casablanca. From Quito the European routing is usually simpler and not much slower — expect 20 to 26 hours including connections.

I tell Quiteños to think in terms of nine to twelve days. You're going a long way, and Morocco rewards a slower hand. A loop I love for first-timers: start in Marrakech to find your feet, head into the High Atlas and down to the Sahara for a desert night, then north to Fes for the great medieval medina before flying out. If you have the full twelve days, add the blue town of Chefchaouen or the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, which is a gentle, breezy contrast to the inland heat.

Visa-wise, Ecuadorian citizens need a visa to enter Morocco, so don't leave this to the last minute. You'll typically need a passport valid for at least six months, confirmed accommodation, a return or onward ticket, and proof of funds. Apply through the nearest Moroccan consular channel for Ecuador and allow generous lead time. Carry printed copies of everything — Moroccan border officers occasionally ask, and it's reassuring to have it ready.

One thing Andean travellers tend to underestimate is heat and altitude difference. Quito is cool and high; Marrakech in summer is hot and low. Travel in spring (March–May) or autumn (September–November) for the kindest weather. The time change is significant — Morocco is six to seven hours ahead of Ecuador — so plan a soft first day. Pre-book your desert night and first hotel; keep the rest flexible.
