With direct flights disrupted, most travellers from Russia connect via Istanbul, Dubai or another hub to Casablanca — roughly 8–13 hours with one stop. Russian passport holders have enjoyed 90-day visa-free entry, but the situation is fluid, so always verify both flights and the current rule before booking.
I'll be straightforward with you, because the picture from Russia has changed significantly. Direct air links between Russia and much of the world, including some Morocco routing, have been disrupted in recent years, so I plan these trips on the assumption that you'll connect rather than fly nonstop. The most reliable bridges are Istanbul on Turkish Airlines — Istanbul to Casablanca is a short, frequent hop — or a Gulf hub like Dubai. Depending on your departure city and the connection, expect roughly eight to thirteen hours of total travel with one stop, and a one-to-two-hour time difference.
Because of that fluidity, my single biggest piece of advice is to verify current flight availability at the moment you book rather than assume a route still runs as it did. Routings and carriers serving Russia have shifted, and what was bookable last season may not be this one. Once you've nailed down a workable connection — most often via Istanbul — the trip itself plans like any other: I land most guests at Casablanca (CMN) and build a loop through Marrakech, the Sahara, the Atlas and Fes so you never double back.
On the visa, Russian passport holders have long enjoyed visa-free entry to Morocco for tourist stays of up to 90 days, needing a passport valid six months beyond travel, which has historically kept the paperwork simple. But given how much has been in flux, this is a place to be extra diligent: confirm the current entry requirement with the Moroccan diplomatic mission or official channels before booking, and check again close to departure, because both flight access and entry rules can move.
For timeframe, given the connection adds hours, I'd suggest at least eight to ten days to make the journey worthwhile, and longer if you can. A couple of practical notes for travellers from Russia right now: payment can be the real friction — international cards issued in Russia may not work abroad, so plan carefully for cash (euros or dollars to change into dirham) and confirm what payment methods you can actually use, and arrange travel insurance that's valid for your circumstances. I'd also lean toward flexible, refundable bookings where possible given the moving parts. Tell me your departure city and dates, and I'll find the most dependable routing.
