Allow 10–14 days for the distance. Fly Bangkok to Casablanca via a Gulf hub — Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi — or Istanbul, roughly 16–20 hours with one stop. Thai passport holders should check carefully: entry rules can require a visa or e-visa, so always verify the current rule before booking.
Travellers writing from Bangkok are making a proper long-haul journey, so I start with time. There's no direct flight from Thailand to Morocco; you're looking at around 16 to 20 hours with one connection and a 5 to 6 hour time difference. Given the distance, I never recommend less than ten days, and fourteen is ideal — enough to take in Marrakech, the Sahara, the Atlas, Fes and the coast at a humane pace rather than burning your trip in transit. Thai guests often pair Morocco with a stopover in the Gulf or Istanbul, which breaks the journey beautifully.
For routing, the Gulf carriers lead the way: Qatar Airways via Doha, Emirates via Dubai and Etihad via Abu Dhabi all connect Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Casablanca with smooth, frequent transfers. Turkish Airlines via Istanbul is another excellent option, often competitive on total time. I usually land Thai guests at Casablanca (CMN) as the main gateway and build a loop south so you never double back, though a direct fare into Marrakech (RAK) is a lovely way to begin if you find one.
Now the part where I have to be especially careful and honest, because it differs from the easy EU cases: the visa position for Thai passport holders is not as simple as 'just turn up.' Depending on the current policy, Thai citizens may need a visa or an electronic travel authorisation to enter Morocco, and these rules have been evolving. This is precisely the kind of situation where I urge you not to rely on a blog or a friend's old experience — confirm the current requirement directly with the Moroccan embassy or consulate handling Thailand, and the official e-visa portal if one applies, well before you book flights. Build in time to obtain any visa needed.
Beyond the paperwork, a few Thailand-specific notes. Pack for variety: Morocco can be hot like Thailand in summer but surprisingly cold at night in the desert and the mountains, and downright chilly in winter — very different from Bangkok's steady warmth. The cuisine is a delight but milder and less fiery than Thai food, so I sometimes point guests to the places that do a punchier harissa. And because you've come so far, I always build the desert in rather than leaving it for 'next time.' A local eSIM and cash in dirham round out the prep. Tell me your dates and I'll handle the routing and the right pace.
